Right On Roofing inc. is TAMKO Certified! What Does That Mean?

When it comes to roofing, quality and reliability are paramount. Homeowners want assurance that their roofs will withstand the test of time and the elements. For roofing companies, being able to provide this assurance is essential to building trust and a strong reputation. One significant way to achieve this is by becoming TAMKO certified. Here’s why being TAMKO certified is so important for roofing professionals and their clients.

### 1. **High Standards of Quality**

TAMKO is a renowned name in the roofing industry, known for its high-quality roofing products. To become TAMKO certified, a roofing contractor must meet stringent standards set by TAMKO. This certification process ensures that only the most skilled and reliable contractors are endorsed by TAMKO. For homeowners, this means peace of mind knowing that their roof is being installed or repaired by experts who adhere to the highest standards of quality.

### 2. **Access to Superior Products**

TAMKO certified contractors have access to the full range of TAMKO’s premium roofing materials. These products are known for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and performance. By choosing a TAMKO certified roofer, homeowners can be confident that their roof will not only look great but also provide long-lasting protection.

### 3. **Enhanced Warranties**

One of the significant benefits of working with a TAMKO certified contractor is the enhanced warranties available on TAMKO products. These warranties often provide more comprehensive coverage compared to standard warranties. This added protection is a crucial selling point for homeowners, offering them an extra layer of security and assurance in their investment.

### 4. **Professional Training and Expertise**

TAMKO certification requires contractors to undergo regular training and stay updated on the latest roofing techniques and industry trends. This ongoing education ensures that TAMKO certified contractors are always at the forefront of roofing technology and best practices. For clients, this translates to superior workmanship and the latest in roofing innovations.

### 5. **Credibility and Trust**

In a competitive market, having a TAMKO certification sets a roofing company apart from the rest. It signals to potential clients that the company is reputable, reliable, and committed to excellence. This credibility can be a decisive factor for homeowners when choosing a roofing contractor, making TAMKO certified roofers more attractive options.

### 6. **Commitment to Customer Satisfaction**

TAMKO certified contractors are committed to upholding the brand’s reputation for quality and customer satisfaction. This commitment means that certified roofers are more likely to provide excellent customer service, from the initial consultation to the completion of the project and beyond. Homeowners can expect a smooth, professional experience when working with a TAMKO certified contractor.

### Conclusion

Being TAMKO certified is more than just a credential; it’s a testament to a roofing contractor’s dedication to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. For homeowners, choosing a TAMKO certified roofer offers confidence in the craftsmanship and materials used for their roofing project. For roofing companies, it provides a competitive edge, access to superior products, and the backing of a trusted industry leader. In the end, TAMKO certification benefits everyone involved, ensuring that roofs are built to last and perform exceptionally well for years to come.

Ice damming occurs when snow on a roof melts, usually due to heat escaping from the attic or an unevenly heated roof and then refreezes at the eaves (the edges of the roof). This creates a "dam" of ice that prevents additional melting snow from properly draining off the roof. Instead, the water pools behind the ice dam and can seep under shingles, potentially causing roof leaks, water damage, and even structural problems. Here's a breakdown of the process: Snow Accumulation: Snow builds up on the roof during a winter storm. Melting: Warm air inside the attic or heat from the sun causes the snow to melt at the higher, warmer parts of the roof. Refreezing: As the melted snow flows down the roof, it reaches the colder eaves or edges of the roof where it refreezes, forming an ice dam. Water Pooling: The ice dam blocks further melted snow from draining, causing water to pool behind it. Leakage: Over time, this pooled water can work its way under the shingles, potentially penetrating the roofing underlayment and causing leaks inside the home. Potential Consequences of Ice Damming Roof Damage: Water infiltration can rot roof decking and compromise the roof structure. Gutter Damage: Ice dams can weigh down and damage gutters. Interior Water Damage: Water may seep into walls, ceilings, and insulation, leading to stains, mold, and structural issues. Preventing Ice Damming Proper Insulation: Ensure the attic is well-insulated to keep heat from escaping and warming the roof. Ventilation: Adequate attic ventilation helps maintain a consistent roof temperature. Snow Removal: Safely remove snow from the roof using tools like a roof rake to minimize melting and refreezing. Ice and Water Shield: Install an ice and water shield membrane under the shingles, especially at the roof edges. Heating Cables: Use electric heating cables along the eaves to prevent ice from forming. Addressing ice damming early can help protect the roof and avoid costly repairs.
